A Steering Wheel is Not the Same as a Steering Wheel

With a new system for product data maintenance, Audi AG is embracing the latest technology in the accessory sector. The prodexa Cloud PIM with an installed Workflow Engine is currently the central hub for global product data. It supports internal workflows and also provides dealers and end customers with the right data at the right time, in the right place.

“Our philosophy ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’ (‘Advancement through Technology’) now also applies to product data management. With the PIM solution from prodexa, our data is quickly and clearly available for all application areas.”
Marin-Marcel Sandu, Project Manager at Audi AG

Management of Very Large Product Data Volumes

The processing time in the product data capture phase has been drastically reduced with the introduction of the specific role system. Data input and maintenance are done with automated rule-based checks and data approval workflows. Even large amounts of product data information are reliably managed and passed on to SAP or other ERP systems, ensuring that the current information is always correct in these systems. Of course, the standard formats of the automotive industry, such as TecDoc, are supported. Furthermore, the usability of a product is automatically adjusted to new developments throughout its lifecycle.

All Combinations Quickly and Easily Accessible with the Click of a Button

To meet all requirements, the PIM system presents articles in detail in a clear tree structure. It also presents multiple assignments with compatibility information for spare parts from various vehicle models. The product images are checked, managed, and assigned in prodexa Cloud DAM (Digital Asset Manager) and linked to prodexa Cloud PIM. Verified data reduces incorrect orders. With consolidated data quality, the frequency of errors in further processing has been reduced. Order processes now have significantly fewer complaints and returns.

The Challenge and the Solution
  • Transfer existing data to various systems with different formats.
  • Represent multiple assignments and combinations of products.
  • Consider country-specific peculiarities.
  • Workflow Engine with tiered authorization management to monitor and control data capture and maintenance.
  • Data exchange with the merchandise management system for constantly updated, sales-relevant data.
